NBDB Book Club presents Venus in Orbit

The NBDB Book Club and Bigkas Pilipinas present Venus in Orbit, a night of spoken word poetry and music by women on November 13, 9PM at Bacci Ristorante in Makati City.

UST Publishing House Bags “Publisher of the Year” Award at the 30th National Book Awards
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Publishing House was named “Publisher of the Year” during the recent 30th National Book Awards held last 12 November 2011 at the National Museum. Charlson Ong’s “Blue Angel, White Shadow: A Novel” (UST Publishing House) bagged the National Book Award for Fiction while “Sagad sa Buto: Hospital Diary at Iba Pang Sanaysay” (UST Publishing House) by Romulo P. Baquiran, Jr. won the National Book Award for Non-Fiction Prose.

 

 

The National Book Award for Poetry was given to “If I Write This Poem, Will You Make It Fly” (Ateneo University Press) by Simeon Dumdum, Jr. while the National Book Award for Literary Criticism/Literary History was awarded to “Banaag at Sikat: Metakritisismo at Antolohiya” (NCCA) written by Ma. Luisa Torres Reyes. The following works were also adjudged winners of the National Book Award under the different categories:

 

 Arts - “The Urian Anthology 1990-1999” by Nicanor G. Tiongson (UP Press and Film Development Council of the Philippines)

 

Science - “Watersheds Sheltering Life” by Grace Roxas, edited by Ces Rodriguez (Wide Angle Media, Inc.)

 

Social Science - “Sanghiyang sa Mundo ng Internet” by Rhoderick Nuncio (Vibal Foundation, Inc.)

 

Leisure - “Celebrations: A Culinary Feast from the Roces-Reyes Table” by Karla Prieto Delgado, Gianna Reyes Montinola, Cristina Roces Garcia, Ginny Roces de Guzman, Sylvia Roces Montilla and Vicky Veloso Barrera (Anvil Publishing)

 

Design - “To Give and Not Count the Cost: Ateneans Inspiring Ateneans 1859-2009” by Rodolfo P. Ang, Nancy Pe Rodrigo and Maricor E. Baytion; design by Felix Mago Miguel (Ateneo University Press)
